2019 NFL Mock Draft 1st Round (v3.0)

Date:
March 29, 2019

2019 NFL Mock Draft 1st Round (v3.0)

In 2015, College Football Metrics joined forces with preeminent draft forecaster Xavier Cromartie to produce mock drafts and top 100 prospect boards for entry into The Huddle Report’s exclusive, experts-only NFL Draft scoring. Xavier starts to post mock drafts and top 100 boards in January and continues up to the draft in April.

Xavier's four-year average score in the The Huddle Report's mock draft scoring is 40.5.

========================================

Pick #, Team, POS, Player, School, up/down since last, last mock

1. Arizona Cardinals: QB Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) 1

Top 100 picks (3): 1, 33, 65

Top needs: QB, S, WR

The pick: Murray is a great QB who happens to be a bit short. Josh Rosen is, thankfully, on his way out.

Other options: Quinnen Williams is an elite player.

2. San Francisco 49ers: DT Quinnen Williams (Alabama) (+) 3

Top 100 picks (3): 2, 36, 67

Top needs: DT, CB, S

The pick: After signing Dee Ford, SF doesn't have to reach for need. Williams is better than Nick Bosa.

Other options: Bosa.

3. New York Jets:DE Nick Bosa (Ohio State) (-) 2

Top 100 picks (3): 3, 68, 93

Top needs: DE, DE, OT

The pick: It's widely known that NYJ is looking to trade down, but that assumes that Bosa isn't available.

Other options: Trade down or Josh Allen.

4. Oakland Raiders: QB Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State) 4

Top 100 picks (4): 4, 24, 27, 35

Top needs: DE, CB, LB, RB

The pick: OAK could trade out to someone who wants Haskins more. But Gruden's praise for Carr is unconvincing.

Other options: Josh Allen or Devin White.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: OLB Josh Allen (Kentucky) 5

Top 100 picks (3): 5, 39, 70

Top needs: DE, LB, CB

The pick: TB has many good options in this spot, but Allen is probably the best player and need filler.

Other options: Ed Oliver or Devin White.

6. New York Giants: LB Devin White (Louisiana State) (+) 11

Top 100 picks (4): 6, 17, 37, 95

Top needs: QB, DE, CB, OT

The pick: NYG is stuck with Ogletree for 1 more year, but White is a rare LB prospect.

Other options: Haskins, Drew Lock, or Montez Sweat.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars: OT Jawaan Taylor (Florida) (+) 9

Top 100 picks (4): 7, 38, 69, 94

Top needs: OT, TE, DT, RB

The pick: JAX dumped RT Jermey Parnell, and Cam Robinson hasn't done much on the left side.

Other options: Ed Oliver.

8. Detroit Lions: DE Rashan Gary (Michigan) 8

Top 100 picks (3): 8, 43, 88

Top needs: LB, CB, TE

The pick: DET signed Trey Flowers, but someone has to play on the other end too.

Other options: Devin White or Montez Sweat.

9. Buffalo Bills: DT Ed Oliver (Houston) (-) 7

Top 100 picks (3): 9, 40, 74

Top needs: WR, DT, G

The pick: BUF has DTs, but none of them can pass rush.

Other options: DK Metcalf or another offensive player.

10. Denver Broncos: QB Drew Lock (Missouri) 10

Top 100 picks (3): 10, 41, 71

Top needs: QB, C, LB

The pick: DEN filled a lot of holes in the offseason, but Joe Flacco is not going to get the job done.

Other options: One of the Devins.

11. Cincinnati Bengals: LB Devin Bush (Michigan) (+) 20

Top 100 picks (3): 11, 42, 72

Top needs: LB, DT, TE

The pick: Everyone knows CIN wants Devin White, but he isn't going to last this long.

Other options: Devin White or Ed Oliver.

12. Green Bay Packers: DT Christian Wilkins (Clemson) (+) 13

Top 100 picks (4): 12, 30, 44, 75

Top needs: LB, DT, TE, S

The pick: DT is an underrated need. Wilkins can replace Mike Daniels long-term.

Other options: One of the Devins.

13. Miami Dolphins: DE Clelin Ferrell (Clemson) (+) 19

Top 100 picks (3): 13, 48, 78

Top needs: DE, OT, G

The pick: MIA has gutted both lines and will probably take one of the Clemson players.

Other options: Anything OL or DL.

14.Atlanta Falcons:DE Montez Sweat (Mississippi State)(-)6

Top 100 picks (3): 14, 45, 79

Top needs: DE, OT, CB

The pick: Sweat ran the greatest 40 of all time, but his heart issue may make him a bit risky.

Other options: Jonah Williams or Cody Ford.

15. Washington Redskins: QB Daniel Jones (Duke) 15

Top 100 picks (4): 15, 46, 76, 96

Top needs: QB, LB, S, OLB

The pick: QB here, then their next three picks will be Mack Wilson, Deionte Thompson, and Christian Miller.

Other options: Trade up for Dwayne Haskins.

16. Carolina Panthers: DE Brian Burns (Florida State) (-) 12

Top 100 picks (4): 16, 47, 77, 100

Top needs: DE, LB, S, RB

The pick: The only downside to Burns is his weight; everything else is dynamite.

Other options: Clelin Ferrell.

17. New York Giants (via CLE): CB Greedy Williams (Louisiana State) (+) 23

Top 100 picks (4): 6, 17, 37, 95

Top needs: QB, DE, CB, OT

The pick: NYG can't rely on Sam Beal to be a starting CB.

Other options: Daniel Jones if the team doesn't trade for Josh Rosen.

18. Minnesota Vikings: OT Jonah Williams (Alabama) 18

Top 100 picks (3): 18, 50, 81

Top needs: DT, G, RB

The pick: Josh Kline doesn't solve the serious problems along the OL.

Other options: Cody Ford or Andre Dillard.

19. Tennessee Titans: TE TJ Hockenson (Iowa) (+) 21

Top 100 picks (3): 19, 51, 82

Top needs: TE, G, OLB

The pick: Delanie Walker won't be around forever. TEN doesn't have TEs who can block.

Other options: Brian Burns or Cody Ford.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers: WR DK Metcalf (Mississippi) (+) 24

Top 100 picks (4): 20, 52, 66, 83

Top needs: LB, WR, TE, OLB

The pick: Metcalf has a freaky speed score but that's all he has.

Other options: Devin Bush in PIT's dreams.

21. Seattle Seahawks: OT Cody Ford (Oklahoma) (-) 14

Top 100 picks (2): 21, 84

Top needs: DE, S

The pick: SEA will trade down, probably out of round 1. No DE or S is worth it here.

Other options: Someone with long arms and a fast shuttle.

22. Baltimore Ravens: WR Marquise Brown (Oklahoma) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (2): 22, 85

Top needs: WR, LB

The pick: BAL will trade down. Lamar Jackson needs to feed someone other than Snead.

Other options: AJ Brown or Parris Campbell.

23. Houston Texans: OT Andre Dillard (Washington State) (-) 17

Top 100 picks (4): 23, 54, 55, 86

Top needs: OT, TE, G, CB

The pick: Whether at OT or G, HOU needs serious o-line help.

Other options: It really should be an OL.

24. Oakland Raiders (via CHI): RB Josh Jacobs (Alabama) (-) 22

Top 100 picks (4): 4, 24, 27, 35

Top needs: DE, CB, LB, RB

The pick: Some scouts already made up their minds about Jacobs and don't care about his slow 40 time.

Other options: The only EDGE on the roster is Arden Key.

25. Philadelphia Eagles: DT Dexter Lawrence (Clemson) 25

Top 100 picks (3): 25, 53, 57

Top needs: DT, RB, LB

The pick: Despite adding Malik Jackson, a 3rd DT is important to PHI, and Lawrence is a manbeast.

Other options: Jeffery Simmons if PHI wants to wait a year (but Sidney Jones hasn't worked out well).

26. Indianapolis Colts: WR AJ Brown (Mississippi) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (4): 26, 34, 58, 89

Top needs: LB, DT, WR, CB

The pick: Brown seems like a great fit as a big slot. IND is looking dangerous.

Other options: Upgrade on Anthony Walker, but probably not with this pick.

27. Oakland Raiders (via DAL): CB Deandre Baker (Georgia) (-) 26

Top 100 picks (4): 4, 24, 27, 35

Top needs: DE, CB, LB, RB

The pick: Baker is a bit slow, but all the CBs are a disappointing in some way.

Other options: Byron Murphy, Julian Love, Justin Layne.

28. Los Angeles Chargers: DT Jerry Tillery (Notre Dame) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (3): 28, 60, 91

Top needs: DT, OT, WR

The pick: LAC has a major need for a pass-rushing DT. Tillery is undervalued because of the other DL talent.

Other options: Right tackle or an outside receiver.

29. Kansas City Chiefs: CB Byron Murphy (Washington) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (4): 29, 61, 63, 92

Top needs: CB, LB, DE, WR

The pick: KC has approximately 3 good players left on defense.

Other options: Anyone on defense.

30. Green Bay Packers (via NO): TE Noah Fant (Iowa) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (4): 12, 30, 44, 75

Top needs: LB, DT, TE, S

The pick: Fant gives Rodgers a second receiving option without alienating the young WRs.

Other options: Safeties may come off the board in this area.

31. Los Angeles Rams: C Garrett Bradbury (North Carolina St) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (3): 31, 98, 99

Top needs: LB, DT, C

The pick: LAR could play Brian Allen at center, but it would be wise to keep the OL strong.

Other options: Dexter Lawrence would nicely replace Suh.

32.New England Patriots: WR Parris Campbell (Ohio State)(-)30

Top 100 picks (5): 32, 56, 64, 73, 97

Top needs: WR, TE, OT, DE, DT

The pick: Campbell would be better than Phillip Dorsett.

Other options: A player from Alabama, Georgia, or Rutgers.
