2020 Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft, Five Rounds with Commentary (from the 1.08 Spot)

Air Date:
July 22, 2020

2020 Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft, Five Rounds with Commentary (from the 1.08 Spot)

1st-Round (pick 1.08)

It’s my semi-nightmare scenario in the 1st-round…

CEH and Taylor, who are all I really want from this draft…gone, as I’d expect.

Dobbins and Swift, who I can stomach…gone.

Akers, who I would take to trade…gone. Ditto Lamb-Jeudy to take and trade.

I’m left with players with little trade value and guys I don’t feel are going to have a big impact in 2020 (and some not an impact at all ever). Do I try and take one to use/trade or do I just ‘reach’?

If I ‘reach’, I’m going with either Denzel Mims or Michael Pittman or Joe Burrow, or I could really reach and go A.J. Dillon…but there’s a chance I can get him next round (doubtful). If I’m going to reach, I’m going to reach for a non-WR (figuring I can trade for the WRs in-season when the price drops). So, do I go Burrow or Dillon?

If I don’t have a powerhouse #1-2-3 QB group already, I’ll take Burrow because he’s going to have a bigger impact quicker than most anyone in this draft.

Now, let’s hope Dillon falls…

Draft Picks

1.1 Jonathan Taylor

1.2 C. Edwards-Helaire

1.3 CeeDee Lamb

1.4 J.K. Dobbins

1.5 D'Andre Swift

1.6 Jerry Jeudy

1.7 Cam Akers

1.8 Joe Burrow

1.9 Jalen Reagor

1.10 Justin Jefferson

1.11 Ke'Shawn Vaughn

1.12 Henry Ruggs III

2nd-Round (pick 2.08)

Dillon, Pittman, Mims…and Josh Kelley all gone. Dang it. Now, what? Well…there he is, my guy, Bryan Edwards, the one WR here I think could impact the fastest for FF and be his team’s #1 WR this season. So, I’ll take that easy choice.

2.1 A.J. Dillon

2.2 Tee Higgins

2.3 M. Pittman

2.4 Denzel Mims

2.5 L. Shenault

2.6 Tua Tagovailoa

2.7 Joshua Kelley

2.8 Bryan Edwards

2.9 Brandon Aiyuk

2.10 Zack Moss

2.11 A. McFarland

2.12 Antonio Gibson

3rd-Round (pick 3.08)

As is typical here, I’m looking at a choice between Devin Duvernay or reaching for Jalen Hurts. I already took Burrow at #1, so I’ll go with the WR who I think can be his team’s #1 WR someday…Duvernay.

3.1 Chase Claypool

3.2 KJ Hamler

3.3 Darrynton Evans

3.4 Cole Kmet

3.5 Lynn Bowden Jr.

3.6 Justin Herbert

3.7 Lamical Perine

3.8 Devin Duvernay

3.9 A. Gandy-Golden

3.10 Tyler Johnson

3.11 Eno Benjamin

3.12 Jalen Hurts

4th-Round (pick 4.08)

With deeper rosters, if you wanted to go with Albert O. because you own Noah Fant already…I get that logic.

Darnell Mooney as a WR flyer here, understandable.

My always available Joe Reed is here too.

Just because I haven’t done it in any mock yet, I’ll take Mooney. And I’ll just pitch for him – he’s a really talented WR with 4.38 speed. I thought he was more ‘speed’ than anything but he’s actually a pretty talented WR all-around too…in a small package. He might be the better/cheaper version of the K.J. Hamler types (small/speedy/DeSean Jackson-type WRs). I’d take Mooney over Hamler as an NFL GM.

4.1 Van Jefferson

4.2 Adam Trautman

4.3 Jordan Love

4.4 Devin Asiasi

4.5 Gabriel Davis

4.6 D. Peoples-Jones

4.7 DeeJay Dallas

4.8 Darnell Mooney

4.9 Quintez Cephus

4.10 Jacob Eason

4.11 Raymond Calais

4.12 Brycen Hopkins

5th-Round (pick 5.08)

Joe Reed and Albert O. gone, so I take my trusty 5th-round grab, who I think has ‘star’ qualities, TE Colby Parkinson to wrap this one up.

5.1 Thaddeus Moss

5.2 Joe Reed

5.3 Albert Okwuegbunam

5.4 Dalton Keene

5.5 Josiah Deguara

5.6 Hunter Bryant

5.7 Jake Fromm

5.8 Colby Parkinson

5.9 K.J. Hill

5.10 Harrison Bryant

5.11 James Proche

5.12 Collin Johnson
