2020 Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft, Five Rounds With Commentary (from the 1.10 Spot)

2020 Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft, Five Rounds With Commentary (from the 1.10 Spot)

1st-Round (pick 1.10)

Not even worth talking about ‘if’ RBs are going to fall to the #10 spot…probably not going to from #7-8 to #12 in the 1st-round. I’m now going to just give in fully to taking shots at Denzel Mims most of my 2nd-half of the 1st-rounds – my shot at a Julio Jones-like event.

I have Mims and Bryan Edwards rated pretty similarly, but Mims is going #10-15 in most DRDs and Edwards #15-20+ approx., so I can try to have them both by taking Mims first then Edwards.

It’s very possible that Denzel Mims is THE BEST of the 2020 WR group, and he might hit faster than I expect because the Jets have a new #1-2 punch with Perriman-Mims, and Sam Darnold has no history with either, so maybe Mims gets off the ground faster. I am way into Mims, I’ve just been cool to taking any of my Mims-Edwards-Pittman-Duvernay-Claypool loves because usually these rookie WRs start slow and then the new car smell wears off and you can dive in and get them in October for a discount.

That being said, if I’m making the pick…from about #6-7 on, I can make the case that you take Mims as your shot (or Burrow if you need QB help and not more young WRs) and then hope Edwards is there next round.

1.1 C. Edwards-Helaire

1.2 Jonathan Taylor

1.3 Jerry Jeudy

1.4 CeeDee Lamb

1.5 D'Andre Swift

1.6 J.K. Dobbins

1.7 Cam Akers

1.8 Jalen Reagor

1.9 Justin Jefferson

1.10 Denzel Mims

1.11 Ke'Shawn Vaughn

1.12 Henry Ruggs III

2nd-Round (pick 2.10)

Well, one pick in front of me went Edwards (as did A.J. Dillon and Josh Kelley)…so, now I’m making a fresh pick I’ve never made in the 2nd-round on these series of mocks. Who to pick from?

I think Chase Claypool is arguably the best 1-2-3 WR prospect in this draft, I just fear/know he’ll be buried for a year with the PIT depth chart. I have time if I want to ‘chase’ Claypool later.

Brandon Aiyuk is a name, but the 49ers have a low volume passing game with a lot of receivers in front of Aiyuk.

Darrynton Evans, if I owned Derrick Henry could make sense here.

I’m not a believer at all in Antonio Gibson.

Justin Herbert is a name if I want more QB depth/gambles…rather than even more young WR shots.

I guess I’ll go with my ‘best available’ in Claypool…and hope he gets move to TE (which I don’t believe will happen).

2.1 Joe Burrow

2.2 Zack Moss

2.3 M. Pittman

2.4 Tee Higgins

2.5 L. Shenault

2.6 Joshua Kelley

2.7 A. McFarland

2.8 A.J. Dillon

2.9 Bryan Edwards

2.10 Chase Claypool

2.11 Brandon Aiyuk

2.12 Tua Tagovailoa

3rd-Round (pick 3.10)

Drafting from #10 spot on is providing all new wrinkles to my plan…gone is my typical flow that I’ve had the nine mock DRDs prior. No Jalen Hurts or Devin Duvernay, etc., here in the 3rd-round.

I really like Tyler Johnson but talk about ‘buried’ on a depth chart…but he may be ‘best available’.

I like Donovan Peoples-Jones more than most, but he’s also buried…but 2021 he could be the veteran guy on the depth chart.

I could just reach for Joe Reed, but he should be available next round.

Albert Okwuegbunam is here if I want.

Do I need ANOTHER young WR from this draft? I already took Mims-Claypool. But I’m going to take the thing I think could yield results to use/trade the fastest, or at all…so, I’ll take a shot on Tyler Johnson, who could pay off a bit if Chris Godwin gets hurt.

3.1 Jalen Hurts

3.2 Antonio Gibson

3.3 Darrynton Evans

3.4 Justin Herbert

3.5 KJ Hamler

3.6 Isaiah Coulter

3.7 Devin Duvernay

3.8 Van Jefferson

3.9 Lynn Bowden Jr.

3.10 Tyler Johnson

3.11 Cole Kmet

3.12 A. Gandy-Golden

4th-Round (pick 4.10)

I could easily take Joe Reed here, as I do. I’m looking at Lamical Perine, who I do not like…but who could matter as a #2/cuff to Le’Veon if Frank Gore falters. I see Darnell Mooney, but do I need another WR?

I’ll just take the player I believe in more, ANOTHER wide receiver (but I hope he gets to play RB some) – Joe Reed.

4.1 Adam Trautman

4.2 Justin Rohrwasser

4.3 Devin Asiasi

4.4 Albert Okwuegbunam

4.5 Eno Benjamin

4.6 Dalton Keene

4.7 Gabriel Davis

4.8 Jordan Love

4.9 DeeJay Dallas

4.10 Joe Reed

4.11 Lamical Perine

4.12 Quintez Cephus

5th-Round (pick 5.10)

I will take TE Colby Parkinson because I believe in him, and he’s not a WR!!

5.1 D. Peoples-Jones

5.2 Brycen Hopkins

5.3 John Hightower

5.4 Harrison Bryant

5.5 Isaiah Hodgins

5.6 K.J. Hill

5.7 James Robinson

5.8 Thaddeus Moss

5.9 Michael Warren II

5.10 Colby Parkinson

5.11 Hunter Bryant

5.12 Collin Johnson
