2020 NFL Draft -- Seventh Round Commentary…

Comments in no particular order…

-- The 7th-round gave us all a glimpse into the future…teams taking mobile QBs who can be situational QBs and/or movement to other positions…

The Titans arguably made the best pick in the 7th-round, in my book, when they took Hawaii QB Cole McDonald. An excellent mobile QB who does not get enough credit for his passer ability. Super smart by the Titans.

The Saints gave you a glimpse into their future with Ole Miss QB Tommy Stevens…a 6’4”+ Taysom Hill-ish type QB. Not a great passer, but quite mobile and agile. They may groom him at TE/H-back with an occasional wildcat QB alignment.

Miami took Navy stud wishbone QB Malcolm Perry, but he won’t be a QB in the pros…but will be converting to a WR/RB but could see a few purposed runs at QB.

 -- Confusing picks…

Arizona, needing offensive lineman, takes another RB…solid satellite RB Eno Benjamin, Arizona State. Not great news for Kenyan Drake or Chase Edmonds. They all need to get ready for their three-headed monster role.

WR Jauan Jennings, Tennessee goes to the 49ers…a WR who I like, but how many WRs are the 49ers planning on rostering? Some existing guys are in real playing-time trouble/getting ready to get cut. Why do they even keep Trent Taylor on the roster? Smart for NFL purposes, churning WRs trying to find the right ones, bad for fantasy touches/fantasy valuations.

-- Best pick of the 7th-round? Two options (along with QB Cole McDonald)…

1) RB Raymond Calais, Louisiana goes to Tampa Bay…the biggest homerun hitter in the draft at RB, he goes 7th-round to the Bucs.

TB added Ke’Shawn Vaughn, Raymond Calais to go with Ronald Jones and Dare Ogunbowale. I’m not sure if this helps or hurts Ronald Jones. It’s either two guys taken to bump him…or two guys he can defeat and be ‘the guy’.

2) DE Derrek Tuszka, No Dakota State goes to the Denver Broncos. A promising pass rusher going to a defensive mastermind…this might be pretty sweet.

UDFAs to watch, guys I have as top 100 players…

My #46 CB Luc Barcoo, San Diego State

#56 DT Calvin Taylor, Kentucky

#57 OG Colton McKivitz, Buffalo

#65 OLB/EDGE Rico Kennedy, Morgan State

#73 SAF Jovante Moffatt, Mid Tenn State

#77 ILB Kyahva Tezino, San Diego State

#79 WR Lawrence Cager, Georgia

#82 SAF Javin White, UNLV

 #98 CB Isaiah Swann, Dartmouth
