2020 NFL Draft -- Sixth Round Commentary…

2020 NFL Draft -- Sixth Round Commentary…

Comments in no particular order…

-- The Jags drafted Oregon State QB Jake Luton…a HUGE vote of confidence for Gardner Minshew. And Luton is a decent pick, quality backup-ish QB, but not a threat to bump Minshew.

The Minshew-Chark connection is looking sweet coming out of this draft and going into the 2020 season…as is Leonard Fournette staying in Jacksonville and having no competition for touches.

-- Arizona drafted an ILB that I like, Evan Weaver (Cal)…who is also NOT an offensive lineman.

Probably, like many of you, I watched every Arizona snap on the edge of my seat last year with so much fantasy action tied to Kyler Murray. Like you, I could see that Arizona had a horrific offensive line…and when they ever did control the LOS with good blocking, Kyler was a god. The only thing that stands between Kyler, maybe, winning the NFL MVP in 2020 or falling way short…is the offensive line/blocking.

Knowing this, Arizona has had five picks so far in the draft and selected one OL prospect.

How many offensive linemen did they sign in free agency? One.

How many offensive linemen did they sign in free agency that are starter-worthy? None.

-- The Bills drafting PK Tyler Bass, Ga. Southern likely means the end of the Steven Hauschka era in Buffalo. I thought Bass was the best kicker in this draft, but my opinion is not well-studied on that position.

-- Best pick in the 6th-round…

Tampa Bay grabbed DT Khalil Davis, the Aaron Donald-like athlete (but not performer), in the 6th-round. This is what the 6th-round is for – take major athletes/potential star players, see if you can fix or unlock them to their greatness.

…or, instead, you can take a punter like idiots…like the Jets took.

The runner up ‘best pick’ in the 6th…perhaps, truly the best pick was by Denver -- OG Netane Muti, Fresno State. If not for injury issues, he might have been a top 50-75 player. Ignore Tristan Wilfs for a moment, consider him an OT here, and I’d argue Muti was the most talented OG prospect for 2020…on a talent basis, but you have the injury concerns.

-- Side note: I’m getting feedback that Devin Singletary has become very available, the price dropping, etc., in many dynasty leagues the past 24 hours (as I expected/discussed on the video show last night) due to the Zack Moss addition. I’m not afraid of Moss…not at all.

If you want in on Singletary, now is the time…but note the price is dropping so don’t come in hot like it was taking (and getting rejected) before. The price has been sliced pretty good. Remember, people don’t think Singletary is that great…and now they think Moss will start over him or 50-50 split him.

Much cheaper market to grab you some Singletary now – go get it.
