2021 Devy Prospect Previews: SAFs Richard LeCounte (Georgia) and Andre Cisco (Syracuse)

Devy Disclaimer: I only take a quick look at some game tape and review background data on each prospect – it’s a very preliminary look that I could change my mind on with deeper study a year later when these prospects do hit the college all-star bowl games and work the NFL Combine and Pro Days. I don’t have all the data, today, that I need/want for a comprehensive scouting and I’m not taking anywhere near a full amount of time to tape preview -- I’m giving a knee jerk scouting reaction from a basic intro to the player. The good news is…I’m better at this (scouting) than anyone in the world, so my quick eye test is better than the echo chamber’s/football media’s studies – so, I’m your best hope for an initial preview…but don’t write any of this in stone…it’s early with limited data and a whole season of info/tape/data to come on these guys.

SAF Richard LeCounte (Georgia)

5’10”/190

2019: 61 total tackles, 35 solo, 4.5 TFLs, 4 INTs, 3 PDs (14g)

Preview Grade = C-

Not going to be a great IDP translation to the pros. Might be a sound DB but not an FF-number producer. A safety built like a corner – long arms, undersized for a safety. Better in coverage as a roaming free safety. Weak tackler…tries to head/shoulder hunt everyone because he’s not thick enough to blast SEC/NFL prospect sized ballcarriers. Thinks he’s better than he is…constantly showing off and gyrating, etc., on the field after every little thing he does.

Reminds me of: DeAndre Baker, former overrated Georgia DB (now headed to prison potentially).

SAF Andre Cisco (Syracuse) *JR

6’0”/203

2019: 65 total tackles, 41 solo, 5 INTs, 5 PDs (9g)

Preview Grade = A-/B+

One of the smartest/most instinctual safeties I’ve seen (at this quick glance). Could’ve been the #1 safety in the 2020 NFL Draft class, if was eligible. Cisco is always in the right spot at the right time. Great closing speed to make tackles (and whacks people) and get picks (12 INTs in two seasons, led the NCAAs in INTs in 2018 as a freshman). Just a great football player.

Reminds me of: Budda Baker…only better?
