2021 Devy Prospect Previews: TEs Nick Eubanks (Michigan) and Luke Farrell (Ohio State)

2021 Devy Prospect Previews: TEs Nick Eubanks (Michigan) and Luke Farrell (Ohio State)

Devy Disclaimer: I only take a quick look at some game tape and review background data on each prospect – it’s a very preliminary look that I could change my mind on with deeper study a year later when these prospects do hit the college all-star bowl games and work the NFL Combine and Pro Days. I don’t have all the data, today, that I need/want for a comprehensive scouting and I’m not taking anywhere near a full amount of time to tape preview -- I’m giving a knee jerk scouting reaction from a basic intro to the player. The good news is…I’m better at this (scouting) than anyone in the world, so my quick eye test is better than the echo chamber’s/football media’s studies – so, I’m your best hope for an initial preview…but don’t write any of this in stone…it’s early with limited data and a whole season of info/tape/data to come on these guys.

TE Nick Eubanks (Michigan)

6’3”/250

2019: 25-243-4 (12g)

Preview Grade = D

Listed at 6’5”, he looks closer to 6’2-3” on tape…looks more like an average H-back than legit NFL TE impact at the next level. Looks like he has ‘iffy’ hands, and the Michigan QB was not really looking for him on most pass plays (likely knowing it was not a smart throw)…the QB would force it to WRs before looking to Eubanks. I didn’t see a second of tape that got me excited here. He looks like a 4.75+ runner with no real agility and not an optimal size. Maybe he breaks out some in 2020 but based on my glimpse at 2019…I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Reminds me of: Ben Braunecker…not as good as.

TE Luke Farrell (Ohio State)

6’5”/250

2019: 7-119-2 (6g)

Preview Grade = D+

Every backup/’who cares’ NFL TE you’ve ever seen…has the size of an NFL TE, and the speed/moves of a backup or never-going-to-make-it-in-the-pros TE. Unimpressed.

Reminds me of: Former OSU TE, somehow the #94 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Nick Vannett.
