DirecTV flipped this game on 1+ minute past the start time (on the eight-at-a-time view). Just in time for me to see Tyreek Hill giving me the ‘peace sign’ going in for his punt return score to start what was going to be quite the fiesta for R.C. game.If you think fantasy analysts and national football pundits are dumb on Tyreek Hill, or were, look at the morons in NFL coaching…why would you punt a returnable ball to Tyreek Hill ever? I mean, really think about that…three years into Tyreek, a team in the same division that has played him 4x the past two years – they can’t wait to punt straight away to him. Idiots…all of them.I don’t want to waste carpal tunnel wear and tear congratulating myself for seeing the Mahomes-Hill thing way ahead of anyone in fantasy. To me, I’m already moving on. I’m looking for the next one while torturing myself listening to national analysts ‘discover’ them now. I want to give credit to others in this moment and I will lavish quite the praise on one player in a...
*Disclaimer – I watch all the games live Sunday, however many at one time, and these are my initial fantasy reactions/notes. I will then watch each game and detail and file a deeper report on each game, and may change my stance midweek on something I say below…but as a quick reaction to Sunday’s action, here’s my quick take…Games in random order:SF-MIN-- What happened to Jimmy Garoppolo (15-33 for 261 yards, 1 TD/3 INTs)? A mix of the Vikings defense, the loss of Jerick McKinnon a week ago and the loss of Marquise Goodwin right off the bat in this game, and some tough luck plays (drops, some of the INTs off miscommunications with receivers) converged here. Not much positive to see here but this is not normal for JG, he’ll live to fight another day and kick into gear.-- The 49ers do not have a great run defense, but the Vikings did not take advantage. Dalvin Cook (16-40-0, 6-55-0/7) was no difference maker here. Latavius Murray (11-42-0) looked better to me.
I have more notes on this game than I know what to do with. I don’t even know where to start. Some of you want to talk about/complain about Mitch Trubisky, as you do. We’ll get there. Some of you are hitting a higher level of consciousness, I’m proud of you…many you have already reached out to complain about the true Bears problem, Matt Nagy. It started in the 1st-quarter last night with the Nagy texts and emails, and it hasn’t stopped since. You know I’m going there too, but with my usual deftness that puts into print what your mind was stirring up all last night. I’m good like that.Watching the various pregame coverage last night, the media went into this game with the narrative:1) Mitch Trubisky sucks…and we want more/any proof, so we can hammer it.2) Matt Nagy is a delicate genius that is keeping the Bears afloat.3) The Bears' defense is the most awesome-ist! Steve Mariucci said so in the pregame –
