2019 NFL Mock Draft 1st Round (v2.0)

In 2015, College Football Metrics joined forces with preeminent draft forecaster Xavier Cromartie to produce mock drafts and top 100 prospect boards for entry into The Huddle Report’s exclusive, experts-only NFL Draft scoring. Xavier starts to post mock drafts and top 100 boards in January and continues up to the draft in April.

Xavier's four-year average score in the The Huddle Report's mock draft scoring is 40.5.

========================================

Pick #, Team, POS, Player, School, up/down since last, last mock

1.Arizona Cardinals: QB Kyler Murray (Oklahoma)(+)15

Top 100 picks (3): 1, 33, 65

Top needs: QB, LB, DT

The pick: ARI admitted that Wilks was the wrong coach; now admit that Rosen was the wrong QB.

Other options: DT Quinnen Williams has the highest grade in the draft.

2.San Francisco 49ers:DE Nick Bosa (Ohio State)2

Top 100 picks (3): 2, 36, 67

Top needs: DE, CB, S

The pick: Although not an elite athlete, Bosa is still one of the elite players in this class.

Other options: Quinnen Williams or one of the other top DEs (Allen, Sweat, Gary).

3. New York Jets: DT Quinnen Williams (Alabama) (--) 1

Top 100 picks (3): 3, 68, 93

Top needs: DE, WR, CB

The pick: NYJ doesn't need a DT, but Williams is clearly the best player available.

Other options: Trade down with someone who wants Haskins.

4. Oakland Raiders: QB Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State) (+) 7

Top 100 picks (5): 4, 24, 27, 35, 66

Top needs: DE, WR, CB, LB, RB

The pick: OAK doesn't seem thrilled with Derek Carr and would consider replacing him with Murray or Haskins.

Other options: Bosa or Williams.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: OLB Josh Allen (Kentucky) (+) 8

Top 100 picks (3): 5, 39, 70

Top needs: CB, RB, DE

The pick: JPP looks near the end, and Allen fits perfectly in the modern 'multiple' defense.

Other options: DEs Sweat or Gary.

6. New York Giants: DE Montez Sweat (Mississippi State) (+) 19

Top 100 picks (2): 6, 37

Top needs: QB, S

The pick: NYG may not land Haskins without a trade up. Olivier Vernon could be released in a cap move.

Other options: Haskins if available.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars: DT Ed Oliver (Houston) (+) 14

Top 100 picks (4): 7, 38, 69, 94

Top needs: QB, TE, RB, G

The pick: Nick Foles likely removes the QB need. JAX stockpiles d-linemen. Malik Jackson is on the way out.

Other options: An o-lineman at either tackle or guard.

8. Detroit Lions: DE Rashan Gary (Michigan) (-) 3

Top 100 picks (3): 8, 43, 88

Top needs: DE, LB, TE

The pick: Romeo Okwara is nothing special. DET could have the best d-line with an elite DE.

Other options: LB Devin White deserves strong consideration.

9. Buffalo Bills: OT Jawaan Taylor (Florida) 9

Top 100 picks (3): 9, 40, 74

Top needs: OT, RB, TE

The pick: The o-line is in dreadful shape. Taylor should be the pick if available.

Other options: One of the other top o-linemen.

10. Denver Broncos: QB Drew Lock (Missouri) 10

Top 100 picks (3): 10, 41, 71

Top needs: QB, CB, OT

The pick: Joe Flacco is another temporary QB solution. Lock has a cannon.

Other options: Anything because almost the whole roster is weak.

11. Cincinnati Bengals: LB Devin White (Louisiana State) (-) 4

Top 100 picks (3): 11, 42, 72

Top needs: OT, LB, TE

The pick: Getting White is the CIN dream scenario. Elite LBs historically go around this pick.

Other options: CIN has one of the worst o-lines.

12. Green Bay Packers: OLB Brian Burns (Florida State) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (4): 12, 30, 44, 75

Top needs: OLB, S, WR, CB

The pick: Burns erased a lot of doubts at the Combine and looks like he belongs in the mid-1st round.

Other options: Another EDGE since other positions of need may be a bit of a reach here.

13. Miami Dolphins: DT Christian Wilkins (Clemson) 13

Top 100 picks (3): 13, 48, 78

Top needs: DE, DT, OT

The pick: MIA is gutting their linemen and need to rebuild both sides before getting a QB next year.

Other options: Any OL or DL.

14. Atlanta Falcons: OT Cody Ford (Oklahoma) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (3): 14, 45, 79

Top needs: CB, DE, G

The pick: If you're looking for a short, unathletic OL with bad tape, you'll like Cody Ford.

Other options: ATL needs more help on defense but there are no elite CBs.

15. Washington Redskins: QB Daniel Jones (Duke) (-) 6

Top 100 picks (4): 15, 46, 76, 96

Top needs: QB, S, WR, G

The pick: WAS has to take Jones out of desperation for a QB. Case Keenum is not a real answer.

Other options: Lock if available.

16. Carolina Panthers: S Johnathan Abram (Mississippi State) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (4): 16, 47, 77, 100

Top needs: DE, S, C, RB

The pick: CAR needs another safety to go with Eric Reid. Abram isn't anything special, but he is a safety.

Other options: DE Clelin Ferrell should be considered.

17. Cleveland Browns: OT Andre Dillard (Washington State) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (4): 17, 49, 80, 95

Top needs: DT, OT, WR, CB

The pick: CLE finally finds a real LT. Dillard has elite athleticism.

Other options: DT Jeffery Simmons would likely be the pick if he weren't injured and may not be there at pick 49.

18. Minnesota Vikings: OT Jonah Williams (Alabama) 18

Top 100 picks (3): 18, 50, 81

Top needs: DT, LB, G

The pick: The OL has been a problem for too long. Williams stills grades as a 1st despite unimpressive testing.

Other options: LB Devin Bush is worth considering.

19. Tennessee Titans: DE Clelin Ferrell (Clemson) (-) 16

Top 100 picks (3): 19, 51, 82

Top needs: OLB, S, G

The pick: TEN needs more than Harold Landry, who was mediocre as a rookie.

Other options: A safety to pair with Kevin Byard.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers: LB Devin Bush (Michigan) 20

Top 100 picks (3): 20, 52, 83

Top needs: LB, CB, WR

The pick: PIT has had problems at LB since Ryan Shazier went out. Bush would be an easy choice.

Other options: In this area, CB or WR wouldn't be a reach.

21. Seattle Seahawks: TE TJ Hockenson (Iowa) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (2): 21, 84

Top needs: G, CB

The pick: SEA loves a good blocking TE.

Other options: Trade down.

22. Baltimore Ravens: RB Josh Jacobs (Alabama) 22

Top 100 picks (2): 22, 85

Top needs: RB, WR

The pick: As of right now, Willie Snead is the only offensive weapon to feed. BAL typically trades down.

Other options: Trade down.

23. Houston Texans: CB Greedy Williams (Louisiana State) 23

Top 100 picks (4): 23, 54, 55, 86

Top needs: CB, OT, RB, TE

The pick: Greedy is the only top CB who looked speedy at the Combine.

Other options: CB Deandre Baker.

24. Oakland Raiders (via CHI): WR DK Metcalf (Mississippi) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (5): 4, 24, 27, 35, 66

Top needs: DE, WR, CB, LB, RB

The pick: There have been zero WRs drafted (in any round) since 2003 who ran a 7.38 or slower 3-cone.

Other options: WR Parris Campbell, an EDGE, a CB.

25. Philadelphia Eagles: DT Dexter Lawrence (Clemson) 25

Top 100 picks (3): 25, 53, 57

Top needs: LB, CB, RB

The pick: Treyvon Hester is underrated, but Lawrence is a beast and a value here.

Other options: LB should be strongly considered.

26. Indianapolis Colts: CB Deandre Baker (Georgia) (-) 11

Top 100 picks (4): 26, 34, 58, 89

Top needs: CB, WR, S, DE

The pick: Baker ran a slow 40, but he was the top CB before the Combine.

Other options: WR Parris Campbell is similar to TY Hilton.

27. Oakland Raiders (via DAL): CB Justin Layne (Michigan State) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (5): 4, 24, 27, 35, 66

Top needs: DE, WR, CB, LB, RB

The pick: Layne has long arms and great athletic traits to go with good performance.

Other options: OAK needs a lot of things.

28. Los Angeles Chargers: LB Blake Cashman (Minnesota) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (3): 28, 60, 91

Top needs: DT, LB, OT

The pick: LAC got killed in the playoffs without LBs. Cashman's great tape was known but his athleticism was a shock.

Other options: DT Jeffery Simmons is still a late-1st option despite the injury.

29. Kansas City Chiefs: S Taylor Rapp (Washington) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (4): 29, 61, 63, 92

Top needs: LB, CB, S, C

The pick: KC needs a lot of work in the secondary. Rapp is a legit late-1st safety.

Other options: Best available LB or DB.

30. Green Bay Packers (via NO): WR Parris Campbell (Ohio State) 30

Top 100 picks (4): 12, 30, 44, 75

Top needs: OLB, S, WR, G

The pick: MVS and ESB should be depth WRs. Rodgers can't rely totally on Adams.

Other options: EDGE if not taken at 12 or a safety.

31.Los Angeles Rams: S Juan Thornhill (Virginia) (+) NR

Top 100 picks (3): 31, 98, 99

Top needs: LB, DE, S

The pick: Thornhill is the best safety in the draft. LAR needs another safety to go with John Johnson.

Other options: DE or LB if a good one is available.

32. New England Patriots: DT Jeffery Simmons (Mississippi State) (-) 17

Top 100 picks (5): 32, 56, 64, 73, 97

Top needs: WR, LB, DE, DT, QB

The pick: NE has a lot of picks. No need to rush Simmons back, but he could be ready for the playoffs.

Other options: WR Andy Isabella.
