2016 CB Prospect Grades (FINAL)

Date:
April 24, 2016

-- Sean Davis continues to be our top CB prospect for 2016. He is the one guy that I see who could be a future shutdown corner.

Will Jackson might be a shutdown guy as well, but Davis has gifts and tools above that of Jackson – amazing, amazing feet, plus has a safety's mindset. Davis can play the run and the pass. Jackson is a more polished defender/coverage guy over Davis…Jackson has terrific instincts. Jackson is also a ‘riverboat gambler’ shutdown corner…he may get burned a little too much.

Jalen Ramsey will either be ‘very good’ or a ‘great’ NFL corner. His tape is not as good, to me, as Davis or Jackson’s. At times Ramsey's tape is terrific in coverage, but not a lot of the time. Ramsey has moments of brilliance, and then he’s a ghost for a while. At everyone’s best – Ramsey is arguably the best corner prospect in the draft. Davis has more upside to be discovered.

-- Vernon Hargreaves is fine, but we see little chance he becomes a shutdown corner in the NFL. Good or useful, for sure, but elite…not as likely; low odds.

-- Ian Wells and Morgan Burns have high-end physical gifts for the NFL, but their tape and statistical output doesn’t show great corner techniques. Perhaps they’d make better free safeties.
