2020 FFM Player Valuation Alert: Taysom Hill (9/1)
They are onto us…
Anyone, like me, who was hoping for a Taysom week or two at QB in an emergency but then qualifying as a TE – it’s not happening.
Yes, ESPN (and a few others) now classify Taysom as a TE for fantasy…but note what they say at the end of their fantasy projection/outlook on Taysom (added below). It renders the cute ‘playing QB while being a TE for FF’ devious/hopeful plan…useless.
Hill is an interesting TE2 in non-PPR. He’d be sweet as a real QB, for fantasy. He’d be a neat TE if Jameis played QB, because Taysom would be a jack of all trades TE who worked near the goal line as a QB/TE/RW/WR (because Jameis sucks near the end zone/in tight quarters)…but the dream of Hill at QB but labeled TE, has been killed by ESPN.
From ESPN’s Taysom Hill outlook:
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Hill is back in New Orleans and, while technically a quarterback on the roster, he will continue to operate as a gadget player and thus has tight end eligibility in ESPN Fantasy leagues. In two full regular seasons on the roster, Hill has registered 13 pass attempts, 64 carries and 22 receptions. He caught six touchdowns during the 2019 regular season, but those six came on seven targets inside the 10-yard line, which is obviously unsustainable. Hill's role allowed him no fantasy value when designated as a QB (one weekly finish better than 18th), but his 2019 point total would've ranked 21st at tight end. He's on the TE2 radar in deep leagues. Note that Hill will be stripped of TE/Flex eligibility and changed to a QB if positioned as the Saints' starter at any point this season.
