Daily Commentary 10/11 WED...(7:53pmET *Proj. Updated)

October 11, 2017

*Daily notes as I see them/the mood strikes -- about football or otherwise. Updating throughout (latest time in title). Moving fast so forgive typos...

7:45pmET: The more I think about Samaje Perine getting ANOTHER chance to seize this starting job...it's not just taking the role but flourishing in it. If he can become the Jordan Howard of 2017, guess what? The Redskins could win the NFC East. Dallas has a very tough schedule and could be had now that they're 2-3. Washington has to find 11 wins, at least 10. If they win 4 out of their 5 remaining home games then they'd have to find at least four road wins of six more roadies to go.

Week 17 at NYG is one. Week 7 at Philly, maybe is the second of those 4 road wins needed.

Week 9 at Seattle, probably not. Week 13 at Dallas, probably not.

Week 14 at LAC and Week 11 at NO will be huge games for them, potentially.

They cannot win 10 games with Rob Kelley as the lead no more than the Giants trying to win A game with Paul Perkins.

There is a lot riding on Perine this week...for the Redskins...for all of us FF-believers.

7:11pmET: Projections updated

4:15pmET: Teams coming off BYEs I might not get to comment on because no recap...

DEN -- facing a bad/getting worse NYG defense/team...one that gets smoked by TEs -- A.J. Derby might have a nice output this week. 4-75-1/6 last week vs. bad-v-TEs Oakland.

TEN -- I don't think Mariota will play, which means Indy has a chance to be a useful DST...but too much of a long shot, and having to wait until MNF to find out. That game will be a humdinger -- Brissett v. Cassel on MNF!!!

NO -- The last thing anyone remembers about the Saints is Alvin Kamara catching 10 passes Week 4. Do we think that's happening every week? If he goes three catches this week people are going to be depressed. I think there's more a chance he gets 10+ carries and that lights his fuse as a fantasy starter.

3:30pmET: The only weather issues I see for Week 6 is Rams at Jags...potential drizzle throughout the game. If so, probably not great for the Jags defense to try to tee-off on the QB.

Rob Kelley being reported as unlikely to play...we go to the well one more time with Samaje Perine. A terrible 49ers run defense...it might be 'on', finally.

Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie suspended by the team...another reason to love the Broncos this week.

11:15amET: I don't need any more Eric Ebron stories in my life. This guy has been making excuses for his play for 4-5 years now. Where is the entire NFL analysis community that pushed him as Jimmy Graham 2.0 (back when JG was good). I'm sure he does have mental issues...everyone tells him he's great and then he sucks on the field. I'm sure he;s as confused as the entire football scouting community was on him...because they were all 100% fact that Ebron was great.

Can I just ask about this Midas commercial with 'King Midas'. If you could turn things into gold...would you just hang around a car service facility? As an employee, after he touched brakes, shocks, struts on the car on the lift I was working on and turned them to gold -- aren't you taking them off and cashing them in and retiring?

If there is a 'King Midas'...how terrible is that? The price of gold is based on supply and demand. if Midas could turn things to gold...gold prices would go to a penny a pound, right? That's the real irony of the Midas story...is that discussed in the fairy tale? The only real money to be made is Midas threatening to turn stuff into gold unless you pay him a ransom. It's more a sadistic story to written someday by me when I get time.

Morning Notes to start...

-- The Bears brought back UDFA rookie Tanner Gentry...of all the WRs in the preseason, Gentry had the best connection with Trubisky. I've said Deonte Thompson...but I was talking about guys on the Bears' roster. I don't know that Gentry will get a fair shake, but if he does -- he will win the hearts of the Bears' fans and be a slower Chris Hogan for Mitch. 6'6"/208, 4.58 40-time, 7.29 three-cone, 38" vertical. The Bears dissed him by not putting him on the roster...but this a team/organization that had Cam Meredith idle on the bench for like two years because 'UDFA'.

-- Kevin Hogan starts for CLE this week, officially. I think Cleveland has a shot to knock off Houston this week...based on The Computer models.

-- I kinda forgot this until I saw a note on it -- Davante Adams is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

-- Tevaun Smith tried out for the Packers yesterday. No word on whether they added him. An athletic UDFA WR who made some noise 2016 preseason.

-- The Jets added a practice squad RB...so no Forte or Powell this week almost 100% sure.

-- No Lane Johnson for Philly on TNF is a HUGE development in that game. Likely to miss w/ concussion.

-- Krishawn Hogan...ACL tear, done for 2017
