What the Miami Dolphins Might Do to Ruin Two Fantasy Narratives…

Earlier today I wrote about the Gardner Minshew trade being the harbinger for the Deshaun Watson trade to come any moment now.

But I also noted within that piece that Miami is the team most likely to be pushing the Eagles to pull the big trigger here, a trigger only the Eagles have. (Hurts + several #1 picks in 2021)

Miami could ruin the Eagles party by making an even bigger offer, as Philly hems and haws…possibly arguing about conditions placed on the level of draft picks if Watson heads to jail or whatever bad could happen.

I’m sure Miami wants to dump Tua in this deal and I could see Houston being dumb enough to do it or just taking Tua to trade him as well.

Miami is in play for Watson as is being reported — but Philadelphia has more/better assets (Hurts over Tua, and a bunch of 2021 1st-round picks). Miami has the advantage that Watson has to approve any trade, so Houston could get cut off at the pass trying to send him to Philly.

I believe the Minshew deal was in preparation for a Hurts trade away and getting Watson. However, it’s not impossible to think that Philly knows they aren’t getting Watson (because he may have blocked them as a destination) so they just took advantage of the ridiculous Jaguars (the ex-Jags GM now works for Philly in management).

Houston may not care what Deshaun wants and may try to keep Watson out until he agrees to go to Philly. Watson may just stay out and collect free money to not play in response.

If Miami gets Watson, then two bad FF/FFM things happen…

1) Jalen Hurts is stuck in Philly with Minshew brought in to compete with him. Two guys I like fighting to the death.

2) My NE-BUF dual DST theory gets chopped off to some/large degree depending upon when Watson can play…right now, he can play Week 1. Consider that when going after the dual DST theory. It’s likely he’ll be suspended to start the year, but that’s not a sure thing.
