2019 Dynasty-Fantasy Preseason Analysis Wk4 – Bills 27, Vikings 23

As I was about to finish off this report out…the news hit that LeSean McCoy had been released, which then becomes the focus of this report. Otherwise, this game had an exciting last second TD pass…from a QB who would then be cut this day as well.

Fantasy Player Notes…

-- Like I posted earlier today, I tried to lead you to the gold! A redraft plan containing the strategy of drafting an undervalued LeSean McCoy and then a must-grab of Devin Singletary to go with it has begun it’s launch sequence.

The plan had either winding up with McCoy as the Bills’ #1 RB, and Singletary in the hole…or, our real hope, McCoy cut/traded before the season because of Singletary. And that when McCoy got dropped, for fiscal reasons on top of Singletary-love reasons, that you’d get two RB1 threats when the split-off happened.

Well, how do you like those apples?

Phase I is complete. Devin Singletary is the new featured back in Buffalo. I assume Frank Gore will be listed as the starter for Week 1, maybe, but Singletary is the guy regardless. If you’ve been a subscriber you’ve seen my writings and heard me on our Video Q&A chat pushing my reasoning/inside info on Singletary + McDermott. This is what McDermott wanted. He LOVES Singletary.

LeSean McCoy? He’s not done. This was a fiscal cut as much as anything (and near impossible to trade). He will go somewhere to be a starter…Houston is obvious, but I think Kansas City is the leader by a hair (reunites with Reid and smells Super Bowl with Mahomes). Tampa Bay is far fetched. If McCoy wants money and a mild Super Bowl hope…he goes to Houston. If McCoy wants to win a Super Bowl, he goes to Kansas City.

If you’re a subscriber, you know why I feel that KC could be in-play…concerning the big Damien Williams problem that was looming the last 2-3 weeks…an issue that a 60+ yard flare pass TD in preseason Week 3 couldn’t have magically fixed. We’ll see.

Many FFMers, who’ve already drafted, got McCoy-Singletary in like rounds 9-11…if McCoy goes to HOU or KC, you have two RBs who will/would go top 50-60 in redrafts. Extreme value achieved.

You’re welcome.

Why I don’t sweat RBs in fantasy…because I’m a football magician…one not subject to the known laws of the football media nor the unwashed social media masses.

-- Two QBs who I like that will probably never get a fair chance in the NFL faced-off in this game…

Mr. Preseason MVP, Kyle Sloter (16-24 for 163 yards, 1 TD/1 INT) did fine work again but is unsure of making the roster at this point. I think he makes it…and, thus, awaits a Kirk Cousins injury to launch him. Trevor Siemian would be a minor speed bump to cruise over.

*Sloter was released. Look for him in Denver potentially.

Buffalo UDFA rookie QB Tyree Jackson (22-33 for 175 yards, 1 TD/0 INT, 8-78-1) made a decent case to make the squad but he has been cut (as of this writing) and will almost assuredly be put on the P-Squad.

Two things to note here…

1) We got to see Tyree using his feet more in this game and he was impressive as a legit 6’7” on the loose.

2) The Bills’ GM was interviewed in the booth during the game and his words on Tyree gave me a minor hope they saw something in him. It went beyond the usual ‘everyone looks good/hard to cut any of these warriors’ talk.

-- UDFA rookie RB Khari Blasingame (7-19-0, 3-5-0/3) will be an interesting case to make the team. He’s really played well in more of an RB/FB role, but the Vikings love C.J. Ham in that role. Blasingame has been neat as a receiver out of the backfield all preseason. My guess is…cut and put on the P-Squad, but he might make the squad.

Mike Boone (6-19-0, 1-6-0/1) looked great as usual. The preseason rushing leader. But the fact that he played in this game is an abomination to personnel decisions. He should’ve been resting with the starters. I wish Minnesota would cut him. He’s buried here. But he’s for sure making the team as a #3 RB.

-- Bills rookie IDPs showing hope/promise…

DB Jaquan Johnson (12 tackles) has racked up nice tackle counts all preseason. He’s just always around the action.

LB Tyrel Dodson (11 tackles) showed some spark here as an interior LB. *Cut today, I just found out. Should be back with them on the P-Squad.

Buffalo has a great starting 11 and nice depth on defense.

-- Finally, the ‘Mike Zimmer ruins kickers’ portion of the show…

Dan Bailey hit 2/2 on FGs, while Kaare Vedvik (1/2 FGs) pushed another easy FG attempt and has gone from traded for starter assumption to maybe not making the team now. Oh, Zim! You’re so unlucky…it’s definitely not your fault.
