2019 Dynasty-Fantasy Preseason Analysis Wk4 – Dolphins 16, Saints 13

Not much happening from this game…the best note might be pertaining to the Jaguars. I’ll explain.

*My GB-CHI Wk1 recap will be a doozy...expect it sometime 2nd-half of day eastern time Friday.

Fantasy Player Notes…

-- Saints (now Jaguars) UDFA rookie RB Devine Ozigbo (4-22-0, 3-6-0/3) drew the start and had another impressive performance. Not star-worthy…just…he’s very capable for the NFL if needed. And he’s definitely better than Ryquell Armstead, who the Jaguars drafted to be the #2 behind Leonard Fournette.

The Jags didn’t get Ozigbo and put him on the practice squad. No. He went to the main roster. It might not be long before he usurps Armstead…who looked pretty weak in the preseason.

Ozigbo is a straight ahead, tough runner. But I’m still gushing about how well he catches the ball out of the backfield. Very competent. Very useful. Didn’t see that at Nebraska (but he didn’t get much of a chance either).

Also, Ozigbo showing so well and the Saints not keeping him (I’m sure they thought they’d sneak him onto the P-Squad) – that’s a ‘thumbs up’ to Dwayne Washington by the organization as well.

-- The Dolphins #3 RB report…which could be worth watching if Kalen Ballage fails (as I expect him to) as a #2 and if Kenyan Drake is traded midseason (as I expect him to)…

Why Mark Walton (12-52-0) is getting a serious look is beyond me, but I don’t get anything the Dolphins are doing with their franchise. If this is your #3, and potential #2 RB…you’re bad at assembling football teams. Walton couldn’t make most practice squads in the NFL…but he’ll see touches Week 1 for Miami.

UDFA RB Patrick Laird (6-13-0, 1-5-0/1) made the team, and is listed ahead of Myles Gaskin (8-48-0, 2-17-0/2) on the depth chart. For my money, and less than a dollar, I would want Laird over Gaskin or Walton or Ballage for the future. Laird has a Danny Woodhead quality that will make him a nice Patriots player/counterfeit-Patriot i.e. Dolphin.

-- Albert Wilson (2-16-0/2) started/played here…unusual for a starter playing in Week 4, but Wilson is trying to get back to game speed/shape. He looked fine. He’s going to be the Dolphins #1 WR target initially…fantasy useful maybe right off the bat.

Wilson will be more interesting when Preston Williams is in the starting lineup over DeVante Parker…whether that’s Week 2 or Week 8 or whenever. You can win some games with Williams-Wilson-Grant + Fitzpatrick.

-- Last note from this one is minor…training camp media sensation UDFA rookie WR Emmanuel Butler (2-20-1/4) was cut but re-signed to the practice squad. I haven’t seen any real ‘wow’ from him this preseason. He’s OK, but not quite the buzz the media was throwing early August.
