2020 June Faux/Computer Simulated NFL Season (Super Bowl)

2020 June Faux/Computer Simulated NFL Season (Super Bowl)

Every year for the past several years, myself and NFL Mock Draft expert (Huddle.com verified) Xavier Cromartie run an early summer computer simulation of the upcoming season and release the results daily over a week+ span. We show our season in three-game blocks at a time and go right up through the playoffs – showing team records/standings and adding a little quick commentary on each block of weeks and for every playoff game.

Obviously, injuries and trades, etc., will occur and blow all this up…but we run it just for fun and some guidance towards NFL over/under win total bets to consider…if there is a real divergence we’re seeing vs. the betting lines (what we might be really betting).

Baltimore Ravens vs. Philadelphia Eagles

How did we get here? How are the Eagles even here? Well…

The Eagles benefitted from a weak NFC East…Washington and New York have top five worst starting QBs in the NFL at the helm with new coaching staffs and horrific personnel management. Dallas seems to have taken a step back on talent overall…losing key players this offseason – CeeDee Lamb does not fix all the holes; he doesn’t even really matter that much.

Philly gets a weakened NFC East, plus games with Cincy, Cleveland, Arizona on the schedule to keep them propped up. They get the Rams and Seahawks on the road…where you want to play those two teams, not going to them. Ditto Week 14 hosting the Saints.

The Eagles then drew a perfect scenario for the playoffs…home field January in Philly for the more weather adverse Saints, and Rams, and Seahawks. All of which they will have hosted in the regular season oddly enough. They also hosted Baltimore Week 6 of the 2020 season…so, this is a rematch.

The Eagles did what they had to do this offseason – adding Darius Slay, Javon Hargrave, Nickell Robey-Coleman, and Jatavis Brown. No team had a better defensive offseason except maybe the Dolphins. Adding rookies LB Davion Taylor and EDGE Casey Toohill is going to be useful as well. The defense has assets and D-C Jim Schwartz is a top five defensive coordinator.

Carson Wentz has Jalen Hurts to help with the red zone/end zone efficiency. The Eagles are weak at RB and WR, but they will add another power back to the RBBC and I’m sure they will add a wide receiver in-season when the time comes. To make up for that they are extra strong at tight end and have, arguably a top 1-2-3 O-Line in the league.

The Ravens case is simpler – the most dominant team from the 2019 season, the best team, one that stumbled in its opening playoff game…they now take their rightful place at the Super Bowl in the 2020 season.

Ravens -7.5 on the point spread going into this (a guess). I am going to play this simulation just one time and let the chips fall where they may…anything can happen. Here we go…

3-0 BAL: Tucker 47-yard FG

10-0 BAL: Mark Andrews 15-yard pass from Lamar Jackson

10-3 BAL: Jake Elliott 34-yard FG

17-3 BAL: J.K. Dobbins 18-yard run (Tucker XP)

20-3 BAL: Tucker 45-yard FG

20-10 BAL: Jalen Hurts 2-yard run (Elliott XP)

27-10 BAL: Marquise Brown 37-yard TD pass from Lamar Jackson

27-13 BAL: Jake Elliott 39-yard FG

30-13 BAL: Justin Tucker 53-yard FG

37-13 BAL: Lamar Jackson 5-yard TD run

37-19 BAL: Dallas Goedert 18-yard TD pass from Carson Wentz (2pt failed)

The Baltimore Ravens are my Faux 2020 Super Bowl champs

If I have the time, we’ll run/publish another Faux season in late August before the season begins.
