2020 Offseason Moves ‘Tournament’ (Super Bowl 'Loser's Bracket')

2020 Offseason Moves ‘Tournament’ (Super Bowl 'Loser's Bracket')

This year, for judging the offseason, now that we are through the bulk of free agency (and pre-Draft), we’re going to rank the team’s offseason moves within their divisions #1 (best) through #4 (worst). One division each day.

The best team (in our judgement) moving on to the final four of their conference, where we’ll rank those winners until we get to the final two (the Super Bowl matchup of the offseason moves) and then crowning one ‘the best’ team of the offseason…and the same finding single ‘worst’ team of the offseason.

Looking at each team’s adds and losses together in one spot is often eye opening on just what certain teams really accomplished for the upcoming season. We’ll rank them and add some positive or mocking commentary all the way through...there are some teams that…that…I have no idea what they are doing.

And we’re looking at JUST the impact to 2020’s chase – 2021 draft picks or contract logic doesn’t matter. We’re just looking at a +/- player or talent impact to the 2020 cause.

Today we look at: the SUPER BOWL ‘Loser’s Bracket

SUPER BOWL ‘Loser’s Bracket’

Key adds: A’Shawn Robinson, Leonard Floyd, Pick #57

Key losses: Dante Fowler, Cory Littleton, Greg Zuerlein, Todd Gurley, Clay Matthews, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Brandin Cooks

Net pos./neg./neutral: NEGATIVE

Commentary: Losing Littleton and Zuerlein is big. Fowler and Gurley gone made sense, but still hurts. Their answer…sign overrated/bust D-Lineman to silly deals! My…how fast the Rams have fallen out of favor. The late loss of Cooks for a late 2nd-round pick…not likely a boost to 2020 operations. Good for down the road, though.

--- VERSUS ---

Key adds: Adrian Phillips, Brian Hoyer, Brandon Copeland

Key losses: Tom Brady, Kyle Van Noy, Jamie Collins, Stephen Gostkowski, Duron Harmon, Phillip Dorsett, Elandon Roberts

Net pos./neg./neutral: NEGATIVE impact

Commentary: How can it not be negative? I mean…they basically gutted a chunk of the ‘old regime’. However, it was necessary and it will be looked back on as the right thing to do at the right time but looking at just 2020 impact today – the Patriots are certainly not a better team yet with all the changes. If Brady flops and New England wins the AFC East in 2020 for the thousandth time in a row…Belichick is literally a football god.

-- A rematch of the 2018 season Super Bowl. My how the tables have turned. My how fast a team/s can fall from grace. Only, I think the Patriots will rebuild in short order and the Rams…well…it could be nite-nite for Les Snead soon, exposed for the fraud he is (my opinion).

Future aside, what about ‘worst’ of the 2020 offseason (so far)? Can anything top losing Tom Brady?

The judgement boils down to – is it worse losing Brady-Van Noy-Collins and replacing them with nothing (via offseason) or losing Littleton-Gurley-Cooks-Fowler-Zuerlein and replacing with overpriced/underproductive D-Lineman?

In the end…losing Brady is worse than anything, judging strictly in a 2020 vacuum. You’d rather have Brady on the roster right now. He’s irreplaceable until further notice/until he shows us he is fully shot. The Rams really took a 2020 hit but losing your starting QB who still has some gas in the tank…totally disruptive to operations.

What the Patriots are doing is logical, necessary from a business sense -- but you have to say the worst 2020 offseason (so far) belongs to the New England Patriots.

2020 Dynasty Offseason/Best Ball Reports and Rankings Are Constantly Adjusting To All The Changes!

It’s time for season #2 of our last season’s debut subscription…Dynasty Offseason/Best Ball.

I created Dynasty offseason as a way to communicate rankings/valuations on (500+) existing players (and also 400+ IDPs) for Dynasty and Keeper planning purposes (trades, etc.) as well as getting the jump on Best Ball/MFL drafts that begin in February and run all the rest of the year.

The fastest growing success percentage/money earning with FFM scouting/rankings/etc. is in those Best Ball/MFLs – draft a deep roster and forget it until the season begins, and then just watch the results…no lineup settings, no trading. Just pay to compete, out-draft everyone else, and try and cash in on our early/better read on things.

Dynasty Offseason subscriptions will be available when College Football Metrics begins (1/3/20), and you can purchase as a combo or just individually the one you want/need. However, the Dynasty Offseason rankings, etc., will not kickoff until right after the Super Bowl (articles and reports will post in January but player rankings/mock drafts not until past the Super Bowl)…and then we pile in material daily/weekly until opening day of the new NFL season.

If you were not a part of the Dynasty Offseason program last year, I will have more details on it on my playoff game recaps in 2020 and some additional explanation on Best Ball/MFL leagues, how to get started in them, how they work, etc. – if you’re not doing Best Ball/MFLs…you are missing out.
