Coming Up This Week On FFM/CFM…

Crazy week this week, going to do something I’ve never done with people who’ve never been together like this (and it’s special), using a ‘technology’ I’ve never used before. I’ll save that for the very end. First the football stuff happening this week…

-- The Super Bowl happened. I guess I need to recap that.

I will with my usual 3-5K word extravaganza filled with clever football insights and witty banter about not football things. It’s a beast that usually gets published in the early evening eastern time. If you have the FFM App and have notifications set…you’ll know the moment that it’s posted.

-- The first draft of my Kliff Kingsbury research project went places I didn’t expect. 3,000+ words…and it may go into 4K-land by the time I’m done. It’s a monster, and I think it will be intriguing…hopefully. I hoped to debut it Tuesday after the Super Bowl, but I’d say the Kingsbury Report is dropping on Wednesday because it is such an intriguing, perplexing, never-seen-before type of football event.

-- The Dynasty Offseason/Best Ball project is planned to have material starting to hit 3rd week of February. I’ve going through all the players, schedules, coaching changes, etc., since the season ended -- for the first set of projections for 2019-2020-2021 as well as a 2019 Best Ball ranking/valuation to utilize for early BB drafters. Rankings and projections to update constantly all offseason.

I’m also slated to do several Dynasty and Best Ball type subscriber/in-depth articles – like valuing/what to do with Kareem Hunt, the FOUR major fantasy assets of 2019, a discussion of Trubisky vs. Goff vs. Mayfield vs. Mahomes valuations/dynasty planning, etc. There are a bunch of things planned for our debut of Dynasty Offseason/Best Ball all offseason.

-- NFL free agency coverage and projections on who goes where, etc., will hit later in February/early March. Free Agency officially begins March 13th.

-- My take on the daily/weekly football rumors and headlines, and things that aggravate me not-concerning football – you’ll see those briefings sporadically in February, and then it’s more of a mostly-daily staple in March-July.

-- I’m about done re-grading the Senior Bowl defensive prospects. I had to add several for the guys who were late adds due to injuries (they came in after my preview work).

Mon-Tue-Wed…DLs, LBs, DBs and then done with the Senior Bowl for the year.

-- The Top 25 Re-Do of the 2018 Dynasty Rookie Draft is up to pick #22. Picks #23-24-25 releasing this week + the ‘next 5-10’ who just missed the cut. We’ll finish this draft this week. It will be used, in part, as a starter-foundation to do a 2018 + 2019 Rookie Draft concept coming up in the next couple months.

-- More QB scouting reports on the way. Trying to work in some of the off the beaten path QB prospects before the NFL Combine. Reminder: All the non-QB scouting reports start popping the day after the Combine ends.

-- NFL Combine prep is on the docket ahead. Similar to East-West and Senior Bowl…we’ll preview the prospects and rank them pre-Combine to get us all set up on the prospects to watch/focus on – all that will be out the week leading up to the Combine, and then I’ll cover all the Combine action and press conferences and rumors, etc., during the Combine event week.

After that, it’s game on with full scouting reports and positional rankings and dynasty rankings as we head to the NFL Draft, and then all the interpretations of the impact of the Draft on NFL team’s over/under win totals and dynasty-fantasy impacts, etc.

Basically, football never rests and there is never a ‘down time’. How fantasy ‘experts’ break off into fantasy baseball and basketball and mostly ignore the next 6-7 months…it’s beyond me. It’s a full-time gig to try to keep/have an edge.

I am, however, taking a day off to go to the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville this week. I’ve never been before.

Why am I going there?

My in-college son is a Johnny Cash fan…because he’s hip. He’s also YouTube star ‘Nateson’…if you play the video game Overwatch. He’s got an eclectic taste in music because I raised him right. As a Christmas gift I organized a trip to take him.

Adding to this ‘event’ – my father will be coming in from Texas to meet us to go as well. Why is that important? (1) My Dad personally knew Johnny Cash (the older version) for several years. He’s going to be the perfect tour guide. (2) It will be a first in my family…three generations doing a ‘guy’s trip’ together.

Adding to the trip…I used AirBNB to book a room vs. staying at hotel for the first time. I can now check off ‘AirBNB’ from my ‘get with the times’ list. Still on that unchecked list…’use an Uber’. Haven’t needed to yet. I’ve used Uber Eats but not Uber itself yet.

What could go wrong with this picturesque family moment? We’ll see when I write about it sometime after.
