Dynasty-Fantasy Football Offseason Notes + Amazon + Irritations (7/12/2019)

Throughout July and through the preseason, we’ll be dropping Dynasty-Fantasy notes every few days as we have some things of interest, rumors, etc., to talk about.

*For this next 10 days, pre-training camps getting started, I’ll have a special version of ‘daily notes’ – a player/team note or two I have to share, PLUS a special top 10 things I bought off Amazon this year, PLUS one ‘things that irritate me’ note (an ever-popular annual feature).*

…then, it’s time to great ready for (fantasy) football!!

*Writing them on the fly, forgive any errors…

-- I’m impatiently waiting for my Davis Webb proclamations to come true…and I’m not sure they will (that he should already be an NFL starter) because the worst evaluators of NFL talent, especially at the QB position, are all the people the NFL who evaluate such things – first and foremost the football media who don’t even know who Kyle Sloter is.

I’m thinking of Webb, a guy who is exponentially more talented than Sam Darnold in every facet, because I’ve seen a few notes on him recently…positive ones. He may be getting ready to be the Jets #2, waiting for the Darnold crash and burn.

As I was thinking about what a travesty Webb’s career has been so far…and how I hope Pat Shurmur and Dave Gettleman get their just desserts for cutting him last year (and they will)…I was looking up some material and I read the following two pieces I thought were very interesting/telling…

Check this out, see the part where the plan was for Webb to start over Eli the final three games of 2017 season (but management, in its brilliance, intervened: https://nypost.com/2018/10/27/what-davis-webb-thinks-about-giants-mess-now-that-hes-a-jet/

Here’s what Jets’ respected defender/team leader thought/thinks of Webb: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000981741/article/jamal-adams-davis-webb-no-doubt-is-an-nfl-starter

I’m telling you…everyone is throwing parades for Sam Darnold, he’s everyone’s sleeper for fantasy and Vegas has the Jets over/under win total at a respectable level because of him – but they’re all going to get burned. Burned in a different way but similar to when they all endorsed and worshipped Jameis Winston. When Darnold starts to fail…there will be calls for Webb from the locker room.

…and just like in the other New York, management will squash it because they have too much invested in falling knife Darnold, and Webb will be screwed again by the ‘system’.

Get those Jets season tickets while you can!!!

I’ve got a candle lit for Webb…maybe…someday…he’ll get a chance.

 -- Coming up on FFM…

I am hoping/planning to do a Faux 2.0 in July coming up…re-running the season through the computer models after nearly two more months of studies and OTAs, etc., since Faux 1.0. There are some changes on a few teams in my world (up and down) and one change has a butterfly effect on many other teams/schedules, etc.

We may wind up with the same Super Bowl, but I have a feeling 2-3 playoff teams might change based on my latest system changes to some teams.

 -- Irritation of the day…

Have you ever had a macron?

Not a macaroon but the macron? That French cookie thing…looks like a small Yo-Yo became an Oreo-type cookie and dressed up as characters from the old TV show Miami Vice. They come in all colors of the rainbow and everything in-between. Who wants to eat teal or fuchsia cookie with teal or fuchsia creme in the middle?

I do…eventually.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a macron in person in my life, but then I went to Whole Foods (just discovered that store…I’m late to the party) and I see a whole display of fresh macrons. A whole display to themselves? Is this how fancy Whole Foods people live…eating organic foods and macrons while I eat frozen food or fast food every other day? Wait…the macrons are $2 a piece! Say What! I can get a couple McDonald’s burgers for that price! I passed on trying one for $2 out of the very high standards I’ve set in my life.

Not too soon after, I went to a new outdoor shopping/mini-shopping city in my area. What do I see? Grand opening of the macron store – a fancy macron and other French desserts specialty store opening up between a jewelry store and a Sunglass Hut. Where was I when the macron revolution got underway and had advanced this far…and I’ve still never had one?

My goal this year, and I like to dream big…try a fresh, specialty macron to see what I’m missing. I’m afraid I’ll love it and have a sudden expensive habit I cannot kick. My macron review will post sometime this year…

Amazon Prime Days are on July 15-16th, in anticipation of that…and to promote our Amazon affiliate program that takes you 30-seconds or less to use/set up and changes nothing on your experience but means a lot to us (details below), I am counting down my top 10 purchases off Amazon, so far, in 2019. So many have been asking if I would be doing this again in 2019…here I am to make your life better once again.

I feel like I spend as much time scouting Amazon as I do football players. I’m on a constant quest to save time and money, but mostly to make my life better – and while Amazon taking over the world’s economy is likely the death of us all, it’s good for us now…and that’s all that really matters, right? I’ll let my kids fight The Terminator/SkyNet 20-30 years from now.

Here are my Top 10 items off Amazon, so far this year…

4a) Greenworks Electric Snowblower

4b) Greenworks Battery Mower

I was scared to death to buy both these products, and I feel like such an idiot (now) for not doing it sooner.

I’ve wanted to try both of these things for a couple of years, but I was afraid…I was letting the minority of a few complainers/bad ratings on Amazon overrule the majority of good/great ratings. I was being smartly cautious, but now that I have them/used the products…I know I was too cautious.

I also used my ‘Pricepulse’ App (see yesterday’s notes for this must-have App) to track the items to wait for those 1-2x a year shocking price cuts, and then I pounced.

I got the Greenworks Electric Snowblower first: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YYPR9F6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (if out of stock they have others/similar/more recents/bigger, etc.)

I have an extra long outdoor extension cord and it’s what I needed to run this sweet machine. Sounds weird if you’ve owned a gas snowblower – how can you get enough power to throw snow from an electric snowblower? How do you maneuver around the cord?

First, this thing shocked me with how it tackles the snow. I had zero issues with it tossing 3-5-7 inches (that’s the storms we had this year) of snow. Blazed right through it and sent it flying. I was beyond pleased with the power.

Maneuvering with that cord? It took me 10 minutes to get used to it…and not constantly/inadvertently disconnecting it when I turned directions and wrapped it around me. Once I got the hang of it – no issue. By my second snowstorm…I was a master at dancing with the cord. Not having to deal with gas or a heavy unit…well worth it on this lightweight, electric beast.

Everyone on my street was amazed by this unit, and the price – I got it on sale for $102.00. I had been a shoveler of a normal sized driveway…and I’d kill my back every other time. My kids conveniently have ‘college’ and aren’t home to shovel like they used to in their K-12 days. My slave labor is gone. I hate shoveling…and hate the aftereffects. This snowblower was a lifesaver. I should have done it sooner.

I was so blown away by Greenworks’s snowblower that I went after their batter powered lawn mower. Item:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GX9WNP2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This thing has been a champ all summer…cutting my pain in the butt yard, and my elderly neighbor’s yard. No issue with power or cutting ability. There have been two issues, not really issues…

1) It has two batteries. One lasts about 40-minutes the other about 20-minutes. An hour combined. To do my yard is a pain -- takes about 90 minutes all total. I have to do in stages to allow for batteries to recharge. Which is fine but I have to keep up with charging. Another battery would solve this, which I plan to get when Amazon flashes a deal on them.

2) I wish I would’ve gotten the self-propelled one, but I was nervous going battery vs. gas (for no good reason) and the deal was killer on this one. It’s so lightweight it’s like maneuvering a toy, but with 90-minutes of yard and doing a neighbor’s yard too…self-propelled would have been nice (and more expensive). Actually, it has probably helped with some weight loss having to push it myself (but it’s so lightweight I can do everything with one hand easily)…

On the Amazon deal, it was a combo of the lawnmower and $30 more to add their weedwhacker…it’s battery operated and could use the battery from the mower universally. That weedwhacker is the best, most powerful one I’ve ever owned. Shocking the power it has for a battery op unit.

In summary, everything I’ve gotten from Greenworks this year for keeping up my property – it has beyond exceeded my expectations. And so glad I was patient and waited for the deals and then struck on them. Couldn’t be happier.
