H-Chat Wk7: DEN at LAC (-1.5)

*This is the transcript of our Handicapping group wager chat for this particular game. Taking it as it is, so forgive any typos, etc. It's just casual opinions shared. Also, we may veer way off topic but that's half the fun of it.

Katz: Have #Chargersthings gone dormant for a couple weeks? Are the Chargers now better than the Broncos? They almost won in Denver when these teams first played.

RC: I thought for sure this was like the Steelers heading into last week. I thought good team humiliated crushes next opponent. When I thought that on PIT, The Computer agreed wholeheartedly as the Best Bet. I thought for sure Denver was this week’s Steelers – The Computer maintains LAC as a slight favorite here. I’m shocked. And my program has momentum factors in it – and still likes LAC. The Computer loves LAC and NO in general beyond my understanding…maybe because I don’t understand.

Denver couldn’t block NYG…how will they stop the LAC D-Line pressure? The Chargers have a shockingly good O-Line this year, so if that neutralizes DEN pass rush…I get LAC here at home. Man, if Denver loses here and LAC goes to 3-4…wow.

Katz: I've wavered back and forth on this game a few times now. I keep falling back on "Denver won't lose two in a row." But I fell back on that logic with Kansas City and it didn't work. The Chargers aren't going to suddenly stop doing #Chargersthings just because the last two games have just barely gone their way late. This is what the Chargers do. They have the talent. They lose a bunch of games they shouldn't. Eventually they win a couple and convince everyone they've turned it around or figured it out. They probably haven't. This is the perfect spot for the Chargers to go back to being the Chargers. I'm taking Denver.

Rabbitt: Based on whatever I know is wrong theory... go chargers.

RC: If Keenan Allen out, I oddly like the Chargers chances better that other guys will have to be used by Rivers!

Skolman:   Depends, is an inactive Keenan Allen still going to attend the game?  Rivers might whip a couple of ball his way even though he’s in street clothes.

Savage: That SNF game was so strange that I just have to throw it out. I assume its a combination of Vance Joseph not having his team ready and Trevor Siemien having an off night before getting injured. With a clueless rookie coach like Vacne, this might be a team that completely fails to show up a couple times a year. Week 7 will be better. The Chargers pass rush is very good, but their run defense is very questionable. All Denver has to do is pound the run and shut down Phil Rivers, because the Chargers can't run the ball against anyone.

RC: The Computer says LAC, but I like Denver because this is the game Vance Joseph discovers deep sleeper, little known RB Jamaal Charles. If you guys haven’t heard of him, he’s pretty good. They may even ‘like this kid’.

Rabbitt:  For our high school teams next playoff game we play a team that has attempted 46 passes in 9 games. They have the leading rusher in Wisconsin because they have this radical strategy of giving him the damn ball.  They are 9-0.  You would think if high school coaches could figure it out the guys who sleep in their office could...
