Katz: Will the bye week actually make a difference for the Packers who would probably be touchdown favorites if they had their quarterback?
Rabbitt: The packers needed this bye week more than any team in the league. I think they come out and put a hurt on the Lions at home. History has not been kind to them there as you all know.
RC: I am rooting for Brett Hundley to have his moment. This game is pretty even between these two, per The Computer, with the GB injuries. If their starting O-Line is all intact tonight…I could see the GB upset with two weeks to install an offense more for Hundley.
However, Mike McCarthy will do the opposite and this will be a painful watch that I think DET wins, but hope GB covers…and D Adams scores a TD in.
If the Lions win this game, they are a legit threat to win the NFC North because of the schedule ahead.
Katz: I went with the home dog in primetime coming off a bye, but I am unwittingly placing a fair amount of faith in Mike McCarthy to actually have done something productive over the bye. A Davante Adams TD would be nice, but I really just need one catch for 12 yards. That'll get the job done. If he doesn't get there, I will never forgive McCarthy, Brett Hundley, or the entire Packers organization.
Skolman: This made my B5 because of what I think is a mismatch in the trenches. Two things you need to bring on the road with you; defense and a running game...and the Lions has neither right now. If they continue to move the ball down the field and settle for field goals we can take our chances with the Packers running game and Hundley doing just enough to get an outright win. Bad o-lines ruin everything...meanwhile the Packers look like they’ll have their line healthy and intact.
Savage: I picked the Packers for the same reasons already stated.
I do believe McCarthy will have his offense/team well prepared for tonight's game, but I would say there's a 0% chance that we see a brand new offense. I expect them to lean heavy on the run to set up deep throws and play action roll outs, the same type of stuff McCarthy has always run just catered a little more to Hundley's skills. I think we see a few read option plays, but that's about it.
For what it's worth, Rodgers has recovered from surgery and is back with the team. I'd expect him to be on the sidelines to help Hundley and the rest of the coaching staff. If you're of the belief that McCarthy is a bum who gets propped up by Rodgers' skill and intelligence, then at least having Rodgers there as an extra coach help.
RC: I don’t know why but I have the funniest feeling Hundley is going to have a nice game and pop 2 TDs and run for 50+. If the GB OLine is fully healthy…I just have had the most nagging thought GB wins this game handily.
