Intro: Xavier Cromartie and I did our annual post-draft, summer computer simulated seasons from each of our data, and posted that in early June 2019 (Faux 1.0). Since then, I’ve had a chance to further study the draft prospects and UDFAs, researched the teams/players/coaches for our fantasy football draft guide, and looked at each team’s personnel/salary cap situation. With more study/research, some things have changed in my team/player expectations for 2019.
With that, I give you my Faux 2.0 computer simulated season to see what might have changed on outcomes, and there are a few playoff-worthy changes to report. Like usual, each day, I’ll release three weeks of results at a time with some basic notes on things and the entire records/standings to that point.
Faux 2.0 Divisional Playoffs…
#4 Cleveland at #1 New England
New England wins 63% of the simulations.
Same result as the Faux 1.0 season – it’s too much to ask for the Browns to get past the Patriots at New England in the playoffs. It would be a helluva watch, though.
#3 Kansas City at #2 Jacksonville
Jacksonville wins 53% of the simulations.
Same result as Faux 1.0, just a little closer this time…as the odds of Tyreek gone for the year are at zero now. Not the case a few months ago. Still, the Jags home field wins out.
#5 Dallas at #1 L.A. Rams
Rams win 54% of the simulations.
In Faux 1.0, Dallas was the #4 seed facing the Rams…and it was close too, but you have to lean Rams – but Dallas plays/matches up against the Rams so well.
#3 Green Bay at #2 New Orleans
The Saints win 74% of the simulations.
In Faux 1.0, the roles were flipped. Green Bay at home, and thus winning with the January temperature advantage. Not so here. An easy win for the Saints at home/a bad Packers road team.
Tomorrow’s Final Four:
#2 Jacksonville at #1 New England
#2 New Orleans at #1 L.A. Rams
