RC: ‘Faux' (2.0) 2019 Computer Simulated NFL Season (Weeks 16-17)

Date:
July 20, 2019 10:34 AM
July 27, 2019 11:59 PM

Intro: Xavier Cromartie and I did our annual post-draft, summer computer simulated seasons from each of our data, and posted that in early June 2019 (Faux 1.0). Since then, I’ve had a chance to further study the draft prospects and UDFAs, researched the teams/players/coaches for our fantasy football draft guide, and looked at each team’s personnel/salary cap situation. With more study/research, some things have changed in my team/player expectations for 2019.

With that, I give you my Faux 2.0 computer simulated season to see what might have changed on outcomes, and there are a few playoff-worthy changes to report. Like usual, each day, I’ll release three weeks of results at a time with some basic notes on things and the entire records/standings to that point.

 Weeks 16-17 Notes…

-- New England, once again, wins the AFC East…with distance. Buffalo (9-7) is one of four 9-7 teams vying for the last playoff spot.

-- The Browns take the AFC North, and Pittsburgh (9-7) is fighting for a final playoff spot.

-- Jacksonville wins the AFC South, and the #2 seed. Houston (10-6) is the #1 wild card. Indy (9-7) is fighting for the final wild card spot.

-- Kansas City wins the AFC West with surprising Denver (9-7) hoping for the final wild card.

-- See who got into the final AFC wild card tomorrow!

-- Philadelphia (9-7) wins the tiebreaker over Dallas (9-7) to take the NFC East. Dallas makes it in as a wild card.

-- Green Bay (9-7) sneaks past (8-8) Chicago and Minnesota to win the NFC North.

-- New Orleans (10-6) wins the NFC South with ease.

-- The Rams (12-4) take the #1 seed again. Faux 1.0 saw San Fran in the wild card, but in Faux 2.0 they are out and Arizona (9-7) is in…as I join Xavier Cromartie with this Cardinals projection.

-- The #1 draft pick goes to…(3-13) Cincinnati.

Biggest changes since Faux 1.0:

Most teams maintained the same record from Faux 1.0. A few teams had a +/- a win change. Three teams had +/- two wins change, and they were:

+2 wins = NY Giants (from 4-12 to 6-10)

-2 wins = Green Bay (from 11-5 to 9-7, and from #2 to #3 seed)

-2 wins = San Francisco (from 10-6 to 8-8, and from #1 wild card to out of the playoffs – replaced by Arizona)
