RC: ‘Faux’ 2019 Computer Simulated NFL Season (Weeks 16-17/Regular Season Final)

Just for ‘fun’ and to try to get a feel for the early over-under win total bets in the NFL, NFL Draft guru Xavier Cromartie and I run a computer simulated season every summer to compare and contrast where we see certain teams at, and the league overall, in the upcoming season.

Obviously, this is a ‘way too early’ look at the season because the moment we publish this, an elite QB goes down with an injury and changes the entire landscape for so many teams. We’re running a simulation in a ‘safe environment’ on injuries, etc., so this is a bit of a Utopian look.

We’ll release three weeks of results and quick commentary on it each day and walk through our playoffs and eventual Super Bowl winner. Neither of us knows what the other person simulated/projected until we have our entire ‘faux’ season locked in and written up.

So, here we go with the next installment of the ‘Faux’ 2019 season…

OK, the ‘Faux’ regular season is over. Let’s look at the division by division winners:

-- The Patriots win the AFC East again, and they are the #1 seed in the AFC. Buffalo (9-7) is one of four teams at 9-7 fighting one the last wild card spot, which will be announced at the end here.

-- Cleveland claims the AFC North, sending the Steelers into the 9-7 wild card chase.

-- Jacksonville wins the co-toughest/best division (by total record) by a game over Houston, but the Texans (10-6) claimed the top wild card spot. The (9-7) Colts are trying to get that wild card again.

-- The Chiefs held off scrappy Denver to win the AFC West. Denver is one of the 9-7 wild card hopefuls. Everyone’s favorite team for 2019, the Chargers…we had them 7-9. I suspect this will be radically different than what Xavier will have LAC. I thought they were a playoff team but the schedule just worked against them. Only 7 home games…and their international game they really wanted at home – but Week 11 in Mexico vs. KC.

-- Dallas (9-7) beats out, via tiebreaker, the Eagles for the NFC East. Philly is one of two teams looking for the last wild card spot.

-- Green Bay wins the NFC North at 11-5. The (9-7) Bears are the other team with Philly looking for one wild card spot.

-- New Orleans easily wins the NFC South.

-- The Rams got to 12-4, and tied for the NFL’s best record, and they earn the #1 seed in the NFC. The 49ers grab a wild card spot at 10-6. Arizona started 5-1 and then went 3-7 in their final 10 games. Seattle also went 8-8.

-- Congrats to Cincy for earning the #1 pick in the draft.
