RC: ‘Faux’ 2019 Computer Simulated NFL Season (Weeks 4-6)

Just for ‘fun’ and to try to get a feel for the early over-under win total bets in the NFL, NFL Draft guru Xavier Cromartie and I run a computer simulated season every summer to compare and contrast where we see certain teams at, and the league overall, in the upcoming season.

Obviously, this is a ‘way too early’ look at the season because the moment we publish this, an elite QB goes down with an injury and changes the entire landscape for so many teams. We’re running a simulation in a ‘safe environment’ on injuries, etc., so this is a bit of a Utopian look.

We’ll release three weeks of results and quick commentary on it each day and walk through our playoffs and eventual Super Bowl winner. Neither of us knows what the other person simulated/projected until we have our entire ‘faux’ season locked in and written up.

So, here we go with the next installment of the ‘Faux’ 2019 season…

Those silly Miami Dolphins' players from the 1970s can rest easy…there are no undefeated teams by the time we get through Week 6. We barely have any 5-1 teams, but one of them will semi-shock you…

-- The Patriots are 5-1, because of course they are. I mean, consider this schedule – I have them losing Week 1 to Pittsburgh, because like the Saints, the Patriots start slow…but then how can The Computer assign a loss Weeks 2-6 with MIA-NYJ-BUF-WAS-NYG? Who makes these schedules so easy for NE? Part of it is their division is so terrible.

-- The Packers are 5-1. It’s not an easy schedule in the way of teams/opponents, but the set up is so perfect it’s pushing them along. I think they upset the Bears Week 1, then they have three home games in a row – MIN-DEN-PHI. You think that Philly game could be the spot for a loss, but it’s a TNF game…have to favor the Pack. We have GB starting 4-0 before losing at Jerry’s World Week 5.

-- I did it…Arizona at 5-1. Cool your jets. You think I’m excited about the exciting offensive possibilities and looking past Kliff Kingsbury’s losing ways. I’m not dumb. I know this. I just think that the league will be confused by this offense early on, giving ARI some wins they maybe shouldn’t get. Also, Kingsbury started white hot at Texas Tech too, and then collapsed. Blame the schedule as well…wins over DET, CAR, SEA, ATL at home…and a road win at Cincy. Not a murder’s row and four home games the first 6 weeks.

-- In other news…

PIT and CLE are tied for the AFC North lead at 4-2.

KC-LAC-DEN are all 4-2 in the AFC West with 0-5 Oakland trailing them.

Cincy at 0-6 has the worst record in the league, thanks to an Oakland BYE pushing them to 0-5 so far.
