RC: ‘Faux’ 2019 Computer Simulated NFL Season (Wild Card Playoffs)
Just for ‘fun’ and to try to get a feel for the early over-under win total bets in the NFL, NFL Draft guru Xavier Cromartie and I run a computer simulated season every summer to compare and contrast where we see certain teams at, and the league overall, in the upcoming season.
Obviously, this is a ‘way too early’ look at the season because the moment we publish this, an elite QB goes down with an injury and changes the entire landscape for so many teams. We’re running a simulation in a ‘safe environment’ on injuries, etc., so this is a bit of a Utopian look.
We’ll release three weeks of results and quick commentary on it each day and walk through our playoffs and eventual Super Bowl winner. Neither of us knows what the other person simulated/projected until we have our entire ‘faux’ season locked in and written up.
So, here we go with the next installment of the ‘Faux’ 2019 season…
#6 Pittsburgh at #3 Kansas City
Chiefs win 77% of the simulations
The Steelers somewhat backed into the playoffs as it was -- and now going to KC to face Mahomes? It didn’t end well the first time (2018 Week 2), and the Steelers go down again here. The Mike Tomlin rumors to be fired intensify, while this saves Andy Reid from the same heat (for a week).
KC at Jacksonville next week.
#5 Houston at #4 Cleveland
Browns win 76% of the simulations.
You take the southern dome team and have them go to raucous Cleveland in January…already trouble, but then two years integrated Mayfield getting better and better… This win has people losing their minds about a Mayfield vs. Belichick/Brady playoff game next week
Browns at Patriots next week. Imagine if that really happens...wow, what ratings!
#6 Philadelphia at #3 New Orleans
Saints win 83% of the simulations.
Easy win for New Orleans at home in the dome.
Saints go north to Green Bay, in January, next week.
#5 San Francisco at #4 Dallas
Dallas wins 54% of the simulations.
Everyone is calling for a 49ers upset here but Dallas dispatches of them – experienced QB with a solid defense ends the 49ers nice 2019 run.
Dallas goes to L.A. to face the Rams, and Dallas always plays the Rams tough.
