Katz: The Raiders are on the east coast again, but this game isn't at 1:00. Jay Cutler is back. He can't be worse than Matt Moore. Public is all over Oakland. What do we think?
RC: The sentiment of this game…remembering Miami getting crushed by BAL last week…helps gloss over how terrible the Raiders are. Oakland is the better team, if there is such a thing, but Miami at home with points opposite the public is the way I’m going. One other factor – with Ajayi, you knew what Miami was going to try to do, and Ajayi is terrible so it didn’t matter. Oakland has no idea what this offense will look like this week. Much better running game now, not as predictable, breakaway speed (Drake), better pass game work (Williams). I kinda like Miami here.
Rabbitt: Oakland is a bad team. But so is Miami. Seeing how hard the public is going for Oakland makes me want to change this game to Miami. That being said, games like this usually come down to QB's. Carr vs Cutler isn't close.
Skolman: This was one of my B5 for some of the reasons already mentioned...Miami has been bad, but if they are SO bad, why wasn’t anyone in the world willing to stand up and back the Ravens at home last week. Major overreaction to that game. I believe we get max effort from the Fins, Cutler and news RB’s are unknown but different is better in my mind right now. Lynch returning makes me like MIA more because he is a useless sideshow at this point. BTW, MIA is 2-0 at home this season...OAK is living off of that win at TEN, 0-3 on the road since...plenty of reasonable doubt to take the points which hopefully will be 3.5 in real life...and if this is still +3 at game time, then WHY?...with all the $ on Oak? At that point it’s +3 and money line for me.
Savage: Hey, I think Rabbit and I were on the Ravens last week.
I see all the issues with Oakland - bad D, bad run game, shaky O-line. They do still have a good passing attack, which is the key to everything they do.
Good pass defenses and/or pass rushes have shut Oakland down, so to me this matchup comes down to whether or not Miami's pass defense is good enough to get pressure on Carr and force stops. I like Miami's D-line, but they're really better suited for stopping the run than wrecking the pass game. I'm also a little concerned that the Dolphins have worse locker room issues than Oakland and might not give a great effort.
I predict Oakland's offense does fine and forces Miami into a shootout. I love that Miami is throwing Cutler and Parker out there at less than 100%, who aren't even that good when fully healthy.
Katz: I hate how obvious the Raiders seems and I feel like taking them is an overreaction to how awful the Dolphins were against the Ravens. With that being said, I just can't bring myself to take the Dolphins.
Rabbitt: I think Katz is in the same place as me.
Skolman: Going 1-4 in my B5 last week has lowered my inhibitions...the Dolphins and I deserve each other.
