Xavier Cromartie's Computer Simulated 2019 Divisional Playoffs with his commentary...
Each day Xavier and R.C. will post another installment taking it right up to their Super Bowl winners...neither knew each others projections when doing their own. They were done in secret and submitted and we will post them piece-by-piece until the finale. Check FFM for all the installments posted previously.
A1 New England Patriots v A4 Pittsburgh Steelers:
The Patriots are not significantly different from the team that won the Super Bowl last season. They've already adapted to the loss of Gronk. The defense remains strong at corner and upgraded at edge rusher. Unlike previous years, the Patriots drafted real players. They also get a home game after a bye, and they have been to eight consecutive AFC Championships. There is not much doubt about this outcome. Patriots 27, Steelers 21.
A2 Los Angeles Chargers v A3 Indianapolis Colts:
The Chargers have the overall strongest roster of any team. Philip Rivers is still playing at an elite level, and he has at least five strong pass catching options. The defense does not have a single weak point and is particularly strong in the secondary. They made outstanding draft picks that filled their needs precisely. Their only flaw is a weak o-line. The Colts are an excellent team as well, but the Chargers have the home & bye advantage. Chargers 24, Colts 21.
N1 Los Angeles Rams v N4 Philadelphia Eagles:
The Rams have the best offense in the league. There are no weak points, not even the interior OL. The defense is not far behind, starting with the single most dominant player in the league: Aaron Donald. They have big names at edge and corner, but they are the most questionable parts of the defense. Huskie draft picks Taylor Rapp and Greg Gaines are going to quietly turn out to be very good contributors, with Rapp potentially moving to the old Mark Barron role (and being much better at it). The Rams should exploit the Eagles' secondary for the win. Rams 27, Eagles 22.
N2 New Orleans Saints v N3 Chicago Bears:
The Saints are still a top team, but is the window closing? They missed two golden opportunities in the last two years. The potential is still there. Drew Brees remains potentially the top overall QB. Despite a lack of draft picks, they were fortunate that they were able to fill two needs with Erik McCoy at center and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson as a slot CB. But the injury to Sheldon Rankins is a significant loss. The Bears, however, are not much of a threat. They had an easy path to this point, and their lack of offense will end their run here. Saints 24, Bears 20.
